In Thailand, there are several shortcomings related to development and utilization of database on natural resources and biodiversity. These include limited scopes of databases developed to meet very specific needs of each specialized organization, the lack of data compatibility and linkage, poor documentation on local and traditional knowledge and the absence of databases on certain priority issues on biodiversity. Therefore, additional databases should be developed to expand coverage of information services vital to the protection of biodiversity related traditional knowledge with the rights and interests of the country and communities over the abovementioned knowledge.
