Rainforests serve all these purposes, and so much more. Though covering only six per cent of the land area in the entire planet, half of all terrestrial biodiversity can be found in rainforests.
The ASEAN is blessed with vast rainforests—studies show that these ecosystems rainforests are some of the oldest existing rainforests on the Earth. And through all these years, these rainforests have blessed us with the raw materials for food, shelter, and medicine, while serving as home to countless people who carry with them years and years of knowledge, culture, and tradition.
In celebration of #WorldRainforestDay, we encourage everyone to act for nature now; not tomorrow, next week, or next month.
