ACB-NBA Cooperation: Capacity Building towards Implementing the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing, the City Biodiversity Index and the Strategic Plan on Biodiversity

Background

Aiming for collaboration in common areas of interest on biodiversity conservation, the project promotes the exchange of experiences and best practices of experts from the ASEAN Member States (AMS) and from India by participating in various activities to be jointly undertaken by the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) of India and the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB).

Through the ACB-NBA Cooperation Project, it is expected that both organizations will build the capacities of the AMS in implementing the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and achieving the Aichi Biodiversity Targets, with particular focus on access to genetic resources and benefit sharing (ABS), urban biodiversity and support to achieving the Aichi Biodiversity Targets.

Objectives

The project aims to complement priorities, expertise and interests of ACB and NBA on biodiversity and development by implementing collaborative activities on specific thematic concerns: ABS, urban biodiversity, and support to achieving the Aichi Biodiversity Targets.
