Description:

BTLNP has unique ecosystems of marine and terrestrial mountain lands, limestone mountains, islets and diverse fauna and flora, dotted with karst limestone mountains 

 

Habitat Types:

Main ecosystems: 
a) Tropical broadleaf evergreen forest ecosystems on mountain land.
b ) Tropical broadleaf evergreen forest ecosystems on limestone mountains.
c ) Innundated valley farm ecosystem on limestone mountains.
d ) Mangrove ecosystem
e ) Seagrass ecosystem
f ) Coral reef ecosystem

 

Unique Flora:

Erythrophleum fordii, Cinnamomum parthenoxylon, Nageia fleuryi on mountain land, Vatica odorata

 

Unique Fauna:

Sambar deer population, Pangolin, golden monkeys, geckos, pythons (Python reticulatus), leopard (Pardofelis temminckii), King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah), Mountain Golden Turtle (Indotestudo elongate), three-striped turtle (Cuora trifasciata), turtle (Trionychidae fitzinger – “ba ba”/ softshell turtle). 

 

Ecotourism Destination and Activities:

The tourism in the district mostly involve sea tourist services including swimming, relaxing and sightseeing around the bay. The ecotourism has been poorly promoted. Bai Tu Long is an open bay with a clean and unexploited sea environment and such beautiful beaches around islands as Quan Lan, Minh Chau, Ngoc Vung and Bai Dai. Beautiful sights of Bai Tu Long Bay, green tropical forests on islands, mangroves and coral reefs in Bai Tu Long National Park are attractive to tourists who like exploring the nature.
